Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed that India’s goal of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) will be achieved only when the Centre and state governments act together with full energy.
He links this vision to a renewed call for Swadeshi, encouraging every citizen to support locally made goods.
Addressing the nation on Sunday, PM Modi underlines that indigenous products are central to India’s future growth.
Drawing a parallel with the freedom movement, he argues that just as Swadeshi once strengthened the struggle for independence, it can now drive prosperity.
The Prime Minister notes that foreign items often enter daily life unnoticed, from small essentials to household goods.
He urges families and retailers to decorate homes and shops with Indian-made products and to state with pride that they buy and sell Swadeshi.
Once this mindset takes hold, he says, Bharat will develop rapidly.
PM Modi also appeals to state governments to accelerate local manufacturing, attract investments and contribute actively to the national vision.
He says that if the Centre and state governments move forward together, they will fulfil the dream of a self-reliant India and bring prosperity to every state.
His remarks come a day before the rollout of new GST reforms on September 22, which the government presents as a major step towards economic efficiency and consumer savings.
The Prime Minister frames both Swadeshi and tax simplification as complementary pillars in strengthening India’s economy.
By calling for pride in Indian goods and cooperative federalism, PM Modi positions Swadeshi not just as a cultural ethos but as a strategy to build resilience, create jobs and propel India’s growth in the years ahead.
