PM Modi Urges Indians To Choose Swadeshi This Diwali; Calls For National Pride In Local Products

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to celebrate the festive season by supporting Indian-made goods, highlighting the importance of ‘Swadeshi’ products as a symbol of national pride and self-reliance.

In a post shared late Saturday on a social media platform, the Prime Minister encouraged India’s 140 crore people to make Diwali more meaningful by purchasing locally made products and declaring, “Garv Se Kaho Yeh Swadeshi Hai!” (Proudly say this is Swadeshi).

PM Modi also invited citizens to share their Swadeshi purchases on social media to inspire others, creating a collective movement in support of domestic craftsmen, entrepreneurs, and manufacturers.

MyGovIndia Video Highlights Indian Craftsmanship

PM Modi’s message accompanied a video released by MyGovIndia, featuring popular Bollywood personalities such as Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Tripti Dimri, Anupam Kher, Sunil Grover, Rupali Ganguly, and singer Shankar Mahadevan.

The two-minute video captures lively markets decked with festive lights, where families buy sweets, clothes, footwear, and electronics, all proudly tagged ‘Made in India’.

It also highlights well-known local marketplaces such as Men’s Collection in Old Delhi, Mandore Bazar in Jodhpur, Lighthouse on Rajpur Road in Dehradun, and Pure Education Collection in Kolkata’s Tollygunge.

The video promotes Indian-made vehicles and appliances, from televisions and refrigerators to smartphones and laptops, all representing the creativity and skill of India’s youth.

It concludes with the message ‘Vocal for Local’, encouraging people to post selfies with Swadeshi products or artisans on the NaMo App, with PM Modi pledging to share selected entries.

This initiative ties into the Prime Minister’s flagship ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) campaign, launched in 2020 to strengthen domestic production and reduce import dependency.

Economists say the move could give a significant boost to the economy, as Diwali spending typically rises by 20–30 per cent, according to industry data.

As India works toward cutting down on imports, PM Modi’s message has sparked a wave of responses online — from enthusiastic endorsements to debates about luxury imports.

With the festive season in full swing, the Prime Minister’s Swadeshi call has resonated strongly, setting the stage for what could become a nationwide ‘buy Indian’ movement this Diwali.
