PM Modi & HM Shah Set To Visit Assam; Unveil Key Projects & Cultural Tributes

The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in full swing, preparing for two pivotal visits—those of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah—scheduled for late August and early September.

These visits are expected to mark the inauguration of major infrastructure and cultural projects across the state.

During a virtual meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, senior party leaders, MPs, MLAs, and district presidents came together to finalise the arrangements.

Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia confirmed the developments on social media, highlighting discussions around ongoing schemes and mobilisation for the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative.

Amit Shah to Launch Cooperatives & Honour Political Legacy

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Guwahati on 29 August to inaugurate the newly constructed Raj Bhavan.

Following this, he will address a gathering of newly elected NDA panchayat members and launch a new state-wide cooperative initiative.

This scheme, overseen by Shah in his capacity as Minister of Cooperation, seeks to establish youth-driven cooperatives in every panchayat, primarily focused on dairy farming and agriculture.

The government will encourage these cooperatives to lease idle land—often previously vulnerable to encroachment—and transform it into productive community assets.

Later the same day, Shah will launch the birth centenary celebrations of Golap Borbora, Assam’s first non-Congress Chief Minister and a key figure during the Emergency.

Shah is expected to return to Delhi the same evening.

PM Modi to Inaugurate Bio-Refinery & Honour Bhupen Hazarika

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on 8 September, beginning his day in Numaligarh, where he will inaugurate a state-of-the-art bio-refinery.

Developed at a cost of ₹4,200 crore, the facility will produce second-generation ethanol from bamboo, in line with the Centre’s push for green energy and sustainable industry in the Northeast.

PM Modi will then travel to Mangaldoi in Darrang district to lay the foundation stones for vital infrastructure projects, including a new ring road around Guwahati, a bridge over the Brahmaputra between Kurua and Narengi, and the Darrang Medical College.

To conclude his visit, the Prime Minister will return to Guwahati to inaugurate the centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika.

This state-led, year-long tribute will begin with a grand event celebrating the legendary singer and cultural icon’s life and contributions.

CM Sarma has assured that officials are meticulously handling all arrangements.

“Preparations are in full swing to welcome the Prime Minister,” he stated, describing the upcoming events as a significant moment for Assam’s cultural and developmental journey.
