PM Modi-Tusk Talks Focus On Startup Bridge, Technology And Trade

On Thursday, India and Poland agreed to introduce new initiatives to promote entrepreneurship and technological innovation, including an India-Poland StartUp Bridge and technology hackathons for young people, following discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Sharing details of the meeting on X, PM Modi said the two leaders assessed the progress of their Strategic Partnership and explored opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

In his first post, the Prime Minister wrote, “Held excellent talks with Prime Minister Donald Tusk of Poland. We reviewed the progress in our Strategic Partnership and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in: Trade and investment. Defence and space. Nuclear energy. Critical minerals. We also exchanged views on regional and global issues.”

In a subsequent post, PM Modi highlighted the focus on technology, innovation and closer ties between the people of both countries. He confirmed that the two sides had agreed to establish the India-Poland StartUp Bridge and organise technology hackathons for young people.

The Prime Minister announced plans to expand bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, education, culture, sports and tourism.

Separately, Tusk declared that 30 March will be marked annually as Poland-India Partnership Day, commemorating the anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Polish leader emphasised the potential for cooperation in emerging sectors, including space, digitalisation and drones, according to a statement released by his office.

Polish Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domanski, who is accompanying the delegation, said trade between the two countries would at least double by 2030.

Tusk on India’s Global Role

During a joint press conference, Tusk praised India’s role in international affairs and expressed pride in his friendship with PM Modi. He described India as a source of hope amid global uncertainty and political instability.

The latest developments highlight both countries’ efforts to broaden their partnership, with greater emphasis on economic growth, emerging technologies and exchanges between their citizens.
