PM Modi To Visit Washington DC In June, Announces The White House

The White House has declared the state visit of top state leader Narendra Modi to Washington, DC, one month from now. Indian officials have been working out the details of Mr Modi’s first state visit under the Biden administration for months.

According to the announcement, “President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will host Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the Republic of India for an official state visit to the United States, which will include a state dinner, on June 22, 2023.” The visit will also “affirm the deep and close partnership” between the two nations and their people-to-people ties, according to the announcement.

The visit was confirmed by the government, which stated that it would highlight the relationship’s “growing importance.”
According to a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), “The leaders will have the opportunity to review strong bilateral cooperation in various areas of mutual interest, including technology, trade, industry, education, research, clean energy, defence, security, healthcare, and deepening people-to-people connections.”

According to the White House, “the visit will strengthen our shared commitment to a free, open, prosperous, and secure Indo-Pacific” as well as “our shared resolve to elevate our strategic technology partnership, including in defence, clean energy, and space.”

The Indian readout meticulously described the situation, adding that the two chiefs would ponder “their common vision for a free, open, and comprehensive Indo-Pacific and examine chances to grow and unite the Quad commitment”. The MEA additionally said the visit would permit Mr Modi and Mr Biden to investigate ways in which India and the U.S. could reinforce their collaboration at the G-20 (of which India right now holds the pivoting administration) and other multilateral and plurilateral discussions.

According to the White House, Mr Modi and Mr Biden are anticipated to talk about expanding educational exchanges, climate change, workforce development, and health security.

The Hindu had revealed that Mr Modi and Mr Biden are additionally expected to collaborate on different occasions later in May — at the G7 gatherings in Hiroshima, to which India is an invitee, in Papua New Guinea, where the two chiefs are on covering visits, and at the Quad Highest Point in Sydney.
