PM Modi To Visit Tamil Nadu, Puducherry On March 1 To Launch Projects Worth Over Rs 7,000 Crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on March 1 to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects exceeding Rs 7,000 crore. Officials confirmed that the visit will combine public engagements with infrastructure launches.

The Prime Minister will arrive in Chennai on Saturday evening. On Sunday, he will travel to Puducherry to dedicate and initiate projects valued at more than Rs 2,700 crore. He will also address a public gathering during the programme.

Later that afternoon, he will proceed to Madurai in Tamil Nadu. There, he will unveil projects worth over Rs 4,400 crore while speaking at a public meeting.

At approximately 4 PM, he will offer prayers at the Arulmigu Subramaniyaswamy Temple in Tirupparankundram.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the four-laning of the Marakkanam-Puducherry section of NH-332A and the Paramakudi-Ramanathapuram section of NH-87.

The Marakkanam-Puducherry expansion aims to ease urban congestion and cut travel time by nearly 50 per cent, reducing the commute from one hour to around 30 minutes.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate rail infrastructure projects designed to enhance passenger comfort, boost operational efficiency and strengthen rail connectivity across the state.

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, he will dedicate eight redeveloped railway stations in Tamil Nadu. These include Morappur, Bommidi, Srivilliputtur, Sholavandan, Manaparai, Pollachi Junction, Karaikkudi Junction and Thiruvarur Junction.

In Puducherry, the Prime Minister will dedicate the 750-acre Karasur-Sedarapet Industrial Estate to the nation.

The estate will accommodate a Pharma Park, Textile Park and IT Park. It will also feature a state-of-the-art research and development centre of IIT Madras and advanced healthcare facilities linked to JIPMER.

The integrated industrial hub is expected to accelerate regional manufacturing capacity, stimulate investment inflows and generate substantial employment opportunities.

Officials described the visit as a significant step in strengthening infrastructure and industrial expansion across southern India.
