PM Modi To Visit Assam, West Bengal; Connectivity Projects To Be Unveiled

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a visit to Assam and West Bengal on Friday and Saturday. He will attend several programmes and announce major development initiatives aimed at strengthening infrastructure and connectivity.

Government officials stated that the Prime Minister will first participate in events in Kokrajhar, Guwahati and Silchar in Assam. He will then travel to Kolkata in West Bengal.

The Prime Minister noted that the visit will allow him to connect with people from various parts of both states. He will also introduce several development projects during the visit.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “I look forward to being in Kokrajhar, a place associated with the great Bodo culture. The foundation stones would be laid for important road connectivity projects, including Assam Mala 3.0 which would significantly improve inter-state connectivity. Three new train services, namely the Kamakhya-Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express, Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Express and Narangi-Agartala Express will be flagged off.”

The Prime Minister will start his tour in Kokrajhar, a region recognised for its deep cultural ties with the Bodo community.

During the programme, he will lay the foundation stones for multiple road projects aimed at improving transport infrastructure. The projects will likely stimulate economic activity in the region.

The Prime Minister will unveil Assam Mala 3.0, a major road development programme aimed at strengthening connectivity across the state.

The programme will improve internal transport networks and strengthen links between Assam and neighbouring regions.

As part of the visit, the Prime Minister will also flag off three new railway services to enhance rail connectivity in the Northeast and eastern parts of the country.

The trains include the Kamakhya–Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express, the Guwahati–New Jalpaiguri Express, and the Narangi–Agartala Express.

These services are likely to improve passenger travel and support trade, tourism and economic activity in the region.

Officials indicated that the visit underlines the Centre’s continued commitment to strengthening infrastructure and connectivity across the Northeast.

After completing programmes in Silchar on March 14, the Prime Minister will travel to Kolkata to take part in additional events in West Bengal.
