Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate 13 redeveloped railway stations across Madhya Pradesh on Friday, marking another milestone in India’s railway modernisation under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The inauguration forms part of a nationwide initiative that will dedicate 75 redeveloped railway stations to the nation.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will join the virtual inauguration of the redeveloped Tikamgarh Railway Station. He also announced that the programme will include the inauguration and foundation laying of development projects worth more than ₹189 crore.
The 13 upgraded stations are Vidisha, Sanchi, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Beohari, Bhind, Harpalpur, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Junnardeo, Balaghat, Chhindwara and Nainpur.
Authorities have transformed these stations with modern infrastructure while preserving the cultural and historical identity of their respective regions.
The redeveloped stations feature modern station buildings, spacious waiting halls, improved drinking water facilities and clean restrooms.
Passengers will also benefit from digital information systems, LED display boards, CCTV surveillance, energy-efficient lighting and wider foot-over bridges, ensuring greater comfort, safety and convenience.
The government has strengthened accessibility by installing lifts, escalators, ramps and other facilities for elderly passengers, persons with disabilities and women travellers.
Improved parking areas, organised traffic circulation and landscaped green spaces will further enhance the travel experience.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme integrates local culture and heritage into every station.
Sanchi reflects its renowned Buddhist legacy, while Vidisha showcases its rich historical identity through regional architecture and art.
The redevelopment will improve connectivity, boost tourism, support local businesses, create jobs and provide passengers with world-class facilities across Madhya Pradesh.
