PM Modi To Unveil Rs 18,200-Crore Development Projects In Bihar And West Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bihar and West Bengal on Friday, where he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth over Rs 18,200 crore.

The initiatives span connectivity, infrastructure, railways, power, healthcare, and urban development.

Bihar Leg of the Visit

The visit will begin in Gaya, Bihar, with projects totalling nearly Rs 13,000 crore.

As part of his programme, PM Modi will flag off two major trains, the Amrit Bharat Express between Gaya and Delhi, and the Buddhist Circuit Train connecting Vaishali and Koderma, designed to strengthen railway links, ease passenger travel, and promote religious tourism.

In Gaya, the Prime Minister will also distribute keys to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (both Gramin and Urban), continuing the government’s efforts to expand affordable housing.

A highlight of the Bihar leg will be the inauguration of the Aunta–Simaria six-lane bridge over the Ganga in Begusarai district.

Built at a cost of Rs 1,870 crore, the project features an 8.15 km stretch on NH-31 and a 1.86 km parallel bridge alongside the old Rajendra Setu.

This new link will likely reduce detours for heavy vehicles by over 100 kilometres, greatly improving regional connectivity between Mokama and Begusarai.

Kolkata Schedule

Later in the day, PM Modi will reach Kolkata, where he will inaugurate the newly completed metro sections.

At 4:15 PM, he will flag off services and ride the metro himself from Jessore Road Station to Jai Hind Biman Bandar and back.

He will also inaugurate a new subway at Howrah Metro Station, built to ease pedestrian flow.

In addition, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the six-lane elevated Kona Expressway in Howrah, a Rs 1,200 crore project that will boost connectivity between Howrah, Kolkata, and adjoining rural areas.
