PM Modi To Unveil Development Projects Worth Over ₹12,000 Crore In Bihar, West Bengal

PM Narendra Modi will visit Bihar and West Bengal today to launch and inaugurate a host of infrastructure and development projects worth over ₹12,000 crore. He will also address public gatherings in Motihari (Bihar) and Durgapur (West Bengal).

Big Infrastructure Push for Bihar

In Bihar, PM Modi will unveil projects valued at over ₹7,200 crore, aimed at boosting connectivity, digital innovation, rural development, and employment.

In Motihari, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for initiatives across key sectors, including rail, road, IT, and fisheries. Additionally, he will also flag off four Amrit Bharat Express trains connecting Patna, Motihari, Darbhanga, and Malda Town to Delhi and Lucknow.

Key Rail Projects:

  • PM Modi will inaugurate automatic signalling on the Samastipur–Bachhwara rail line.
  • He will launch the doubling of the Darbhanga–Thalwara and Samastipur–Rambhadrapur sections, worth ₹580 crore.
  • He will lay the foundation stone for a Vande Bharat maintenance facility at Patliputra and the doubling of the Darbhanga–Narkatiaganj line, with a total investment of ₹4,080 crore.

Road Infrastructure Projects:

  • The Prime Minister will launch the four-laning of the Ara Bypass and Parariya–Mohania section of NH-319.
  • These projects, worth ₹820 crore, will enhance access to the Delhi-Kolkata Golden Quadrilateral corridor.

Boost to Digital and Rural Economy:

  • He will inaugurate a Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) facility in Darbhanga and an incubation centre in Patna to promote start-ups and IT/ITES exports.
  • Under the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana, he will also launch new fisheries infrastructure such as hatcheries, aquaculture units, and fish feed mills.

West Bengal to Receive Major Gas Infrastructure Projects

In West Bengal, PM Modi will launch projects worth over ₹5,000 crore. He will also lay the foundation stone for BPCL’s ₹1,950 crore City Gas Distribution project in Bankura and Purulia.

This project will further provide piped natural gas (PNG) to households, businesses, and industries, and establish CNG retail outlets.

Key Energy Infrastructure Dedications:

  • PM Modi will dedicate to the nation the 132-km Durgapur to Kolkata section of the Durgapur-Haldia Natural Gas Pipeline.
  • He will also inaugurate the Bokaro-Dhamra Pipeline, both parts of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga (PMUG) Project, enhancing energy connectivity in eastern India.
