PM Modi To Release Rs 18,880 Crore Under PM-KISAN’s 23rd Instalment

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release over Rs 18,880 crore directly into the accounts of more than 9.44 crore farmers across the country under the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on Saturday at Tarakeswar in West Bengal’s Hooghly district, according to an official statement issued on Thursday.

There are over 2.18 crore women farmers among the beneficiaries of the latest instalment. With this release, the total disbursement under the PM-KISAN scheme will exceed Rs 4.46 lakh crore since its launch on February 24, 2019.

The Union Ministry of Agriculture is organising the event with support from the Government of West Bengal.

More than Rs 907.21 crore will be transferred to over 45.35 lakh beneficiaries in West Bengal under the 23rd instalment, taking the cumulative disbursement in the state to over Rs 15,055 crore since 2019.

To mark the occasion, awareness programmes on Central and State government schemes will take place at various levels under ‘PM-KISAN Utsav Diwas’.

More than 1 crore farmers will likely connect to the main event through video conferencing from KVKs, ICAR institutes, universities, agriculture mandis, PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras and village-level functions.

During the event, the Prime Minister will launch several farmer-centric initiatives in West Bengal, including the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).

Also, the Restructured Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS), aimed at providing insurance coverage to nearly 1.10 crore farmers across about 30 lakh hectares during 2026-27.

PM Modi will also launch AgriStack under the Digital Agriculture Mission, enabling access to services such as fertiliser distribution, Kisan Credit Cards, Direct Benefit Transfers and MSP procurement.

In addition, the state will roll out the National Mission on Natural Farming and the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) to promote sustainable farming and integrated agricultural development.
