Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Varanasi today to participate in the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan.
He will release the 17th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) and provide financial assistance to farmers.
In the evening, the Prime Minister will attend the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat. He will also offer prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
He will stay overnight in Varanasi before departing for Bihar on Wednesday morning.
The new installment under PM-KISAN will distribute over Rs 20,000 crore to approximately 9.26 crore beneficiary farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer.
Since its inception, the PM-KISAN scheme has benefitted over 11 crore eligible farmer families, with a total disbursement exceeding Rs 3.04 lakh crore.
Additionally, during the event, Prime Minister Modi will award certificates to over 30,000 women from Self Help Groups (SHGs). They have been trained and certified as Krishi Sakhis.
The Krishi Sakhi Convergence Program (KSCP) aims to empower rural women by training them as Para Extension Workers. This initiative forms a part of the program.
This certification aligns with the objectives of the Centre’s ‘Lakhpati Didi’ program, which seeks to transform rural India through the economic empowerment of women.
This visit highlights how the government continues to support farmers and promote rural development through targeted financial assistance and skill development programs.
