Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform the foundation-laying ceremony for the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project on Sunday in Kaliabor, Assam.
The ambitious initiative, valued at over Rs 6,950 crore, forms a critical part of the four-laning of the Kaliabor–Numaligarh section of NH-715.
Locals have expressed strong enthusiasm for the project, praising PM Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for their development initiatives.
The 86-km corridor includes a 35-km elevated wildlife passage through Kaziranga National Park, 21 km of bypasses, and 30 km of highway widening.
The design prioritises free movement of wildlife and reduces human-animal conflict while improving road connectivity across Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, and Golaghat districts.
The project combines modern infrastructure with environmental conservation, aligning with sustainable development goals.
Residents and local leaders lauded the Prime Minister’s vision, highlighting the benefits for businesses and communities.
Samaguri MLA Diplu Ranjan Sarma said, “PM Modi focuses on infrastructural development and aims to develop both infrastructure and businesses. Assam’s growth reflects this vision.” Other locals expressed gratitude, noting that the corridor will shorten travel distances, protect wildlife, and boost regional development.
During the programme, PM Modi will also flag off two new Amrit Bharat Express trains — Guwahati (Kamakhya)-Rohtak and Dibrugarh-Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) — enhancing rail connectivity between the Northeast and northern India.
The initiative further underscores the government’s commitment to regional integration, economic growth, and inclusive infrastructure development.
The Kaziranga Elevated Corridor is expected to catalyse economic development, improve transportation efficiency, and ensure environmental sustainability in Assam.
By combining infrastructure, connectivity, and wildlife protection, the project highlights a balanced approach to progress in the Northeast.
