PM Modi To Launch Development Projects Worth Rs 2,200 Crore During Varanasi Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for a series of development initiatives valued at around Rs 2,200 crore, marking a major developmental boost for his parliamentary constituency.

His itinerary includes addressing a public gathering at approximately 11 AM, during which he will release the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.

This phase will see over Rs 20,500 crore transferred directly to the accounts of more than 9.7 crore farmers nationwide, underscoring the government’s ongoing commitment to agricultural welfare.

To enhance regional connectivity, the Prime Minister will inaugurate key road improvements such as the Varanasi–Bhadohi and Chhitauni–Shool Tankeshwar stretches, alongside a newly constructed railway overbridge at Hardattpur aimed at easing congestion along the Mohan Sarai–Adalpura route.

PM Modi will likely initiate new infrastructure developments, including road upgrades in Dalmandi, Lahartara–Kotwa, Gangapur, and Babatpur.

Plans for two additional railway overbridges at Level Crossing 22C and Khalispur Yard are also in place to further support transport infrastructure.

In a bid to bolster Varanasi’s power systems, electricity-related projects exceeding Rs 880 crore will be launched, including a Smart Distribution Project and the underground cabling of overhead power lines, aimed at modernising and securing the city’s electrical grid.

To preserve the city’s heritage and enhance tourism, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the upgraded riverfront at eight Kuccha Ghats, the beautified pond and ghat at Rangildas Kutiya in Shivpur, and the restored Durgakund.

Foundation-laying ceremonies will also cover the restoration of Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple, the development of Karkhiyaon, the birthplace of notable freedom fighters, and the transformation of Munshi Premchand’s ancestral home in Lamahi into a museum.
