PM Modi To Launch BSNL’s Fully Indigenous ‘Swadeshi’ 4G Network On September 27

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate BSNL’s fully indigenous 4G network from Jharsuguda, Odisha, on September 27.

This launch establishes India as the fifth nation globally capable of building its own telecom equipment and end-to-end 4G infrastructure, joining the ranks of Denmark, Sweden, South Korea, and China.

The initiative highlights India’s growing technological self-reliance and strengthens the country’s position in the global telecom market.

Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced that BSNL will deploy its 4G stack across nearly 98,000 sites nationwide, ensuring a cloud-based, future-ready network that can be easily upgraded to 5G.

Also, under the Digital India Fund, the government will connect approximately 29,000 to 30,000 villages through a mission-mode project, significantly expanding rural digital connectivity and advancing the goal of inclusive technological growth.

Technological Excellence and Indigenous Development

Telecom Secretary Neeraj Mittal highlighted India as the world’s largest telecom market, with the number of 5G users projected to rise to 770 million by 2028.

He also emphasised that the indigenous 4G stack, developed by C-DOT, Tejas Networks, and TCS, represents a significant leap in India’s telecom capabilities.

BSNL’s UP East Chief General Manager Arun Kumar Garg described the launch as a matter of national pride, noting that the technology behind the network is entirely homegrown.

Speaking at a pre-launch event, Scindia stated, “Tomorrow will be the day when the world will see India not just as a service provider but as a complete 4G stack developer and equipment manufacturer.” He added that the network’s cloud-based design ensures it is scalable, secure, and ready for future technological upgrades.

The launch of BSNL’s 4G network represents a transformative moment for India’s digital landscape.

Furthermore, by providing reliable high-speed connectivity to urban and rural areas alike, the initiative will drive economic growth, enhance digital inclusion, and position India as a global leader in telecom technology.

Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a self-reliant telecom sector aligns with the broader Digital India mission, fostering innovation, job creation, and technological sovereignty.

Moreover, the BSNL Swadeshi 4G network launch underscores India’s commitment to indigenous technology and connectivity expansion.

With nationwide deployment and future-ready capabilities, this initiative promises to revolutionise the Indian telecom sector and strengthen the nation’s digital infrastructure.
