PM Modi To Inaugurate ‘Seva Teerth’ As PMO Shifts From South Block

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) will formally move from the British-era South Block to its new premises, ‘Seva Teerth’, at Kartavya Path on Friday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the complex along with Kartavya Bhavan-1 & 2.

The new facility will house the PMO, the National Security Council Secretariat and the Cabinet Secretariat, marking what officials describe as a significant step in reshaping India’s administrative governance architecture.

Kartavya Bhavan-1 & 2 will accommodate several key ministries, including Finance, Defence, Health & Family Welfare, Education, Corporate Affairs, Culture, Law & Justice, Information & Broadcasting, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Chemicals & Fertilisers, and Tribal Affairs.

According to officials, the Prime Minister will unveil the name ‘Seva Teerth’ at around 1.30 PM, formally inaugurate the buildings, and later address a public programme at the complex at about 6 PM.

The new structures feature digitally integrated offices, structured public interface zones and centralised reception facilities aimed at improving coordination, accessibility, and efficiency. The design focuses on enhanced citizen engagement and employee well-being.

Built in line with 4-Star GRIHA standards, the complexes incorporate renewable energy systems, water conservation mechanisms, waste management solutions and high-performance building envelopes.

An official statement noted, “These measures significantly reduce environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency. The building complexes also include comprehensive safety and security frameworks, such as smart access control systems, surveillance networks and advanced emergency response infrastructure, ensuring a secure and accessible environment for officials and visitors.”

Located in the Central Vista area, the state-of-the-art complex is equipped with future-ready facilities to create a modern working environment, addressing infrastructure limitations of the South Block.
