PM Modi To Honour Young Martyrs At Bharat Mandapam On ‘Veer Baal Diwas’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the national commemoration of ‘Veer Baal Diwas’ today at Bharat Mandapam, beginning around 12:15 PM.

The event honours the bravery and sacrifice of the Sahibzades, Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, the young sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, whose martyrdom remains an enduring symbol of courage against oppression.

The observance of ‘Veer Baal Diwas’ seeks to inspire current and future generations by reflecting on the heroism of the Sahibzades.

PM Modi had first announced the day in January 2022 during the Prakash Purab of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, emphasising the importance of remembering the legacy of India’s youngest martyrs.

This year, the government is rolling out a host of activities nationwide to engage children and young people.

Events include storytelling, poetry recitals, essay-writing, and poster competitions held in schools, Anganwadi centres, Child Care Institutions, and other educational spaces.

Additionally, online programmes will be available through the MyGov and MyBharat portals, allowing broader participation.

The Bharat Mandapam event will also include the presence of Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) recipients, recognising the accomplishments of India’s youth.

Their participation underscores the connection between the spirit of courage displayed by the Sahibzades and the potential of young achievers today.

Through these commemorations, the government aims to instil values of bravery, resilience, and dedication among India’s youth, ensuring that the stories of the Sahibzades continue to inspire and educate generations to come.
