Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on 29–30 May spans four states- Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh, with a packed agenda of inaugurations, foundation stone layings, and public engagements, unveiling projects worth nearly ₹70,000 crore to accelerate economic and infrastructural progress in the regions.

Sikkim: Celebrating 50 Years Of Statehood

Kicking off his tour in Sikkim, PM Modi will attend the golden jubilee event ‘Sikkim@50: Where Progress Meets Purpose and Nature Nurtures Growth’.

The celebration reflects Sikkim’s cultural richness, environmental stewardship, and developmental milestones.

Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang extended his heartiest welcome and invitation to the PM through a post on X.

Earlier on May 24, CM Tamang posted,” With great honour and pride, we extend our heartiest welcome to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji, to our beautiful Himalayan State as we celebrate 50 glorious years of Statehood.”

Key highlights in Sikkim include the foundation stone of a ₹750-crore, 500-bed district hospital in Namchi and the launch of a passenger ropeway at Sangachoeling in Pelling.

A statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee will also be unveiled at Atal Amrit Udyan in Gangtok.

The Prime Minister will release a commemorative coin, souvenir coin, and postal stamp to mark the occasion.

West Bengal: Energy For The Future

In West Bengal, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts.

The ₹1,010-crore project will supply piped natural gas to over 2.5 lakh households and facilitate compressed natural gas access for vehicles through 19 CNG stations, promoting cleaner energy use.

Bihar: Infrastructure Projects & ‘Operation Sindoor’ Echo

Bihar will witness a slew of announcements and inaugurations.

The Prime Minister will open the new ₹1,200-crore passenger terminal at Patna Airport and lay the foundation stone for the ₹1,410-crore Bihta Airport civil enclave.

On 30 May, he will launch projects in Karakat valued at over ₹48,520 crore, including the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-II) worth ₹29,930 crore.

He will also inaugurate the ₹1,330-crore Son Nagar–Mohammad Ganj third rail line, reinforcing Bihar’s connectivity and energy security.

Uttar Pradesh: Metro, Power & Growth

In Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi will inaugurate the Kanpur Metro section between Chunniganj and Kanpur Central, developed at a cost of ₹2,120 crore.

He will also unveil the widening of the Grand Trunk Road and lay the foundation stone for a 220 KV substation at YEIDA, along with 132 KV substations in Greater Noida worth ₹320 crore.

Additional power initiatives include the ₹8,300-crore Panki Thermal Power Extension Project and three 660 MW units of the ₹9,330-crore Ghatampur Thermal Power Project.
