Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address world leaders at the high-level United Nations General Assembly session in New York on September 25, according to the preliminary programme.
PM Modi will speak during the afternoon session, scheduled from 3 PM to 9 PM local time.
The United Nations may revise the timing in its final programme to make the address more convenient for audiences in India.
PM Modi has attended six high-level UN sessions since 2014, shortly after becoming Prime Minister. He will address the 81st General Assembly session, which Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman will preside over after securing the presidency in June.
The session will focus on the theme, ‘Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all’.
The high-level week will begin on September 22 and bring together presidents, Prime Ministers, monarchs and senior government officials.
By tradition, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will open the general debate, followed by US President Donald Trump.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the meeting, according to the schedule.
Xi is reportedly expected to travel to Washington for a summit with Trump during the same week. Other leaders will address major global challenges.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will speak on September 23 amid concerns over the Strait of Hormuz.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will address the Assembly amid the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will speak on September 24, while Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will address the Assembly during the same afternoon session as PM Modi on September 25.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will speak on September 24.
The high-level week will allow leaders to hold bilateral meetings and discuss global political, economic and security issues.
