Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Assam on April 1 to address two significant election rallies, as the Bharatiya Janata Party intensifies its campaign for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Party sources confirmed that the visit forms part of a broader outreach strategy across poll-bound states.
According to senior party leaders, the Prime Minister will first address a public gathering in Bihpuria, located in Lakhimpur district, followed by another rally in Gohpur. Both constituencies hold strategic importance in Upper Assam, and the rallies aim to mobilise grassroots workers and reinforce electoral support.
Party officials stated that extensive arrangements are underway to ensure substantial public participation at both venues. They expressed confidence that the Prime Minister’s presence will significantly energise the campaign and strengthen the party’s electoral prospects.
Leaders highlighted that the campaign will focus on showcasing development initiatives implemented by both central and state governments.
These include advancements in infrastructure, expansion of welfare schemes, and sustained economic progress across the region. They asserted that such achievements will resonate strongly with voters.
Sources also indicated that leaders from allied parties are likely to join campaign efforts, projecting unity within the alliance.
The ruling party remains determined to secure a decisive mandate in the elections.
Authorities have heightened security measures in coordination with state police and central agencies ahead of the high-profile visit.
Polling for the 126-member Assembly is scheduled for April 9, with counting set for May 4.
