‘Operation Sindoor’ LIVE UPDATES: PM Modi Addresses The Nation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi address the nation, with indications pointing towards ‘Operation Sindoor’ being the central theme of his speech, according to an official source.

The announcement comes amid heightened national attention following a series of strategic airstrikes by India and subsequent military developments with Pakistan.

High-Level Security Briefings Precede Address

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister chaired a high-level meeting at his residence in the national capital.

The meeting included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the three service chiefs—General Upendra Dwivedi, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi and Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh.

Additionally, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and RAW Chief Ravi Sinha were present, underscoring the gravity of the current security scenario.

India Defends ‘Operation Sindoor’

During a joint press briefing, Air Marshal AK Bharti, Director General of Air Operations, defended the recent strikes.

He stated that India’s airstrikes on 7 May were directed strictly at terrorist hideouts.

“Our action was against terrorism and its support infrastructure, not the Pakistan military. Regrettably, Pakistan chose to support terrorists, which forced us into an unavoidable confrontation, said Air Marshal Bharti.

He also clarified that India acted only after cross-border terror attacks killed 26 civilians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on 22 April.

In response, the Indian Air Force launched precision strikes on nine terror bases in Pakistan, killing over 100 terrorists.

Retaliation And Escalation

Following India’s strikes, Pakistan responded by launching drones and missiles into western parts of India.

The Indian armed forces intercepted these successfully.

In retaliation, the Indian Air Force executed a 90-minute assault targeting 11 key Pakistani airbases, significantly damaging Pakistan’s military infrastructure.

This escalation led to a spike in tensions, prompting Pakistan to seek a ceasefire.

Ceasefire And De-escalation

By Saturday afternoon, India agreed to a ceasefire following advice from the United States.

The understanding between the two nations included a halt to all military operations with immediate effect.

Since the ceasefire, no hostile incidents have been reported along the western border or in Jammu and Kashmir.

Consequently, authorities have reopened 32 airports previously closed due to the heightened military alert.

Public Expectation Ahead Of PM’s Speech

PM Modi’s address is expected to outline the government’s approach to national security, justify India’s military response, and reassure citizens amidst escalating regional tensions.

The address also follows his directive on Sunday for the Armed Forces to respond to cross-border aggression with full force.

As the nation awaits his words, attention remains firmly fixed on India’s evolving military doctrine and its uncompromising stand against cross-border terrorism.
