Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a major public meeting today at around 4:15 PM in Cooch Behar, as the Bharatiya Janata Party steps up its campaign ahead of the Assembly elections.
The rally, titled ‘Bijoy Sankalpa Sabha’, will take place at the historic Ras Mela Grounds.
The event will mark the beginning of an intensified outreach drive in north Bengal, a key political battleground.
The Election Commission will conduct polls for the 294-member West Bengal Legislative Assembly in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with counting on May 4.
Today’s rally marks Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first election meeting in the state since the poll dates were announced.
It will also mark his fourth address at the venue, following rallies during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the 2021 Assembly polls, and the 2024 general elections.
Party leaders say senior BJP leaders will hold a series of public meetings, roadshows, and organisational programmes across the state as the Bharatiya Janata Party prepares for a decisive electoral push.
The Prime Minister last visited West Bengal on March 14, when he addressed a major gathering at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, marking the culmination of the BJP’s ‘Parivartan Yatra’.
During that visit, he inaugurated and laid the foundation for infrastructure projects worth around Rs 18,680 crore, including national highway developments spanning over 420 kilometres, aimed at improving connectivity, reducing travel time, and boosting economic growth in eastern India.
With the campaign entering a crucial phase, today’s rally will set the tone for the BJP’s strategy in north Bengal and beyond.
