PM Modi Targets Dynastic Politics At Rashtriya Prerna Sthal Inauguration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday criticised the politics of ‘parivarvad’, saying that after Independence, some forces deliberately undermined the contributions of national leaders such as Babasaheb Ambedkar and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Addressing a gathering in Lucknow, he said the Bharatiya Janata Party restored their legacy and ensured it received its rightful place in India’s national narrative.

The remarks came after PM Modi inaugurated the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal, a landmark national memorial dedicated to Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.

Criticism of ‘Parivarvad’

Taking aim at dynastic politics, the Prime Minister said some political forces promoted a culture of linking every achievement to a single family while erasing the contributions of others.

He asserted that the BJP believes in acknowledging and honouring every individual who contributed to nation-building.

According to PM Modi, dynastic politics thrives by sidelining the work of great leaders and glorifying selective narratives, a practice that weakened national unity and historical justice.

Highlighting Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s role in unifying India, PM Modi said his contribution was intentionally diminished for decades.

He said the BJP government honoured Patel’s legacy by constructing the Statue of Unity at Ekta Nagar and institutionalising the celebration of National Unity Day on October 31 every year.

He described Patel’s efforts in integrating princely states as foundational to India’s unity and sovereignty.

Honouring Ambedkar and Other Icons

The Prime Minister said some forces tried to weaken Dr BR Ambedkar’s legacy, but the BJP preserved and celebrated Babasaheb’s contributions.

He added that the government also honoured Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose by installing his statue at Kartavya Path and renaming the Andaman Islands associated with him.

PM Modi also referred to initiatives honouring tribal icons, including memorials dedicated to Lord Birsa Munda and Maharaja Suheldev, stating that these efforts reflected respect for neglected sections of history.

PM Modi concluded by stating that the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal symbolises inclusive nationalism and collective pride, reinforcing the idea that India’s progress rests on recognising every contributor to its freedom, unity and governance.

He said the BJP remains committed to preserving the legacy of national icons while rejecting the politics of dynastic entitlement.
