PM Modi Surpasses 100 Million Followers, Becomes Top Global Leader On X

Prime Minister Narendra Modi achieved a historic milestone recently by becoming the most followed global leader on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, with over 100 million followers. His immense popularity eclipses other world figures such as US President Joe Biden (38.1 million), Dubai’s Sheikh Mohammed (11.2 million), and Pope Francis (18.5 million).

Where does PM Modi stands on social media when compared to other Indian politicians?

In India, PM Modi’s social media reach outshines that of his political peers. Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, commands 26.4 million followers, while Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has 27.5 million.

PM Modi also significantly surpasses opposition leaders like Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav (19.9 million) and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee (7.4 million), as well as Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Lalu Prasad Yadav and NCP’s Sharad Pawar (2.9 million).

Modi’s extensive following extends beyond politics, outstripping global sporting icons like Virat Kohli (64.1 million), Neymar Jr (63.6 million), and LeBron James (52.9 million). He also exceeds the social media presence of celebrities such as Taylor Swift (95.3 million), Lady Gaga (83.1 million), and Kim Kardashian (75.2 million).

On X, Modi’s handle has seen remarkable growth, gaining approximately 30 million users in the past three years alone. His YouTube channel boasts nearly 25 million subscribers, while his Instagram account has attracted 91 million followers.

Since joining X in 2009, Prime Minister Modi has utilized the platform for constructive engagement, interacting directly with citizens, responding to messages, and notably, refraining from blocking anyone. His approach has been entirely organic, without resorting to paid promotions or bots.

With a blend of insightful and engaging posts, Modi has captured a global audience, underscoring his influential digital presence and his ability to resonate across diverse demographics.
