Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the ‘Run for Unity’ event in Lucknow on Tuesday. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi reinforces Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s vision of a unified India, or ‘Akhand Bharat.’ The marathon began at the Chief Minister’s residence and ended at K.D. Singh Babu Stadium. Hundreds, including adolescents and children, participated enthusiastically. Adityanath engaged with the young runners and handed out chocolates.
Adityanath highlighted Patel’s key role in unifying India. He merged over 563 princely states into one nation. The Chief Minister emphasized that PM Modi’s leadership strengthens this legacy. He noted that the government has observed National Unity Day, or ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas,’ since 2014 to honor Patel’s contributions.
The event drew attendance from Deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Girish Chandra Yadav. Adityanath announced year-long celebrations to honor Patel. Activities promoting unity and his values will occur across Uttar Pradesh and nationwide from October 31, 2024, to October 31, 2025. He also wished the people of Uttar Pradesh a happy Dhanvantari Jayanti, stressing the importance of health in social progress.
