PM Modi Shares Kena Upanishad Verse On Self-Knowledge, Inner Strength And Spiritual Wisdom

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a Sanskrit verse from the Kena Upanishad on social media platform X on Wednesday, highlighting the importance of self-knowledge, inner strength and spiritual wisdom.

The verse explains that true strength comes from understanding one’s inner self, while knowledge helps individuals overcome ignorance and attain lasting peace.

In his post, PM Modi shared the verse, which conveys that recognising the ultimate truth through awareness and experience leads towards spiritual liberation. It further highlights how self-realisation gives individuals inner strength, and wisdom helps them develop a deeper understanding of life.

The verse comes from the Kena Upanishad, one of the principal Upanishads associated with the Samaveda. Its teachings explore the nature of Brahman, or ultimate reality, and explain that human senses alone cannot fully comprehend it.

According to Upanishadic philosophy, Brahman is the fundamental reality behind human thought, understanding and experience. It is the source of consciousness that enables individuals to perceive the world.

The text encourages people to seek this truth through inner awareness rather than relying solely on external experiences.

The teaching distinguishes temporary material achievements from lasting inner strength.

Wealth, status and material comforts can change with circumstances, but self-knowledge helps individuals develop confidence, clarity and emotional stability.

By understanding their true nature, people can approach life’s challenges with greater confidence and overcome fear, confusion and uncertainty. Such awareness helps them develop a balanced outlook and attain mental peace.

The Kena Upanishad identifies ignorance as a major cause of human limitations and suffering. It presents spiritual knowledge and self-realisation as ways to overcome these barriers.

The teaching suggests that knowledge goes beyond acquiring information from books. It involves understanding one’s existence, consciousness and relationship with ultimate reality.

Through his post, PM Modi highlighted the relevance of India’s ancient philosophical teachings in guiding individuals towards wisdom, inner strength and lasting peace.
