PM Modi Set To Receive Two More Prestigious National Honours; Raising Global Recognition To 19

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to receive two of the highest national honours from the Caribbean nations of Guyana and Barbados, bringing his total count of international accolades to an impressive 19.

Guyana will bestow upon him ‘The Order of Excellence’, while Barbados will award the esteemed ‘Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados’.

These upcoming honours are part of a series of recognitions PM Modi has earned for his leadership and contributions to global diplomacy.

His recent trip to Nigeria led to him receiving the prestigious ‘Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger’ (GCON) from Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

PM Modi’s receipt of the GCON places him among an elite group of foreign dignitaries, with Queen Elizabeth II being the first to receive this honour in 1969.

During his visit, President Tinubu commended PM Modi’s leadership and India-Nigeria relations, remarking, “Nigeria values its excellent relationship with India, and we work to deepen and broaden the same to the mutual benefit of our two friendly countries. You represent a very strong commitment to democratic values and norms. You have been doing a good job historically; winning three consecutive elections in a complex society is a feat that we respect so much.”

“I will confer on you today, the Prime Minister of India, Nigeria’s National Honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of Niger. This to signify Nigerian appreciation and commitment to India as a partner,” he further added.

PM Modi Receives ‘Dominica Award of Honour’

Earlier this week, Dominica also announced its highest national distinction, the ‘Dominica Award of Honour’, for PM Modi.

This award however recognizes the Prime Minister’s significant role during the Covid-19 pandemic and his ongoing efforts to enhance India-Dominica relations.

The award will conferred upon PM Modi at the India-CARICOM Summit in Guyana, which he will attend following his engagements at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro.

These new recognitions bring PM Modi’s total tally of civilian honours to 17, underscoring India’s growing stature on the global stage and the Prime Minister’s leadership in both regional and international matters.

His accolades reflect strengthened diplomatic ties and the expanding influence of India across the world.
