Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the government’s ‘Purvodaya’ vision, aimed at accelerating development in eastern India, is also driving transformative growth across the Northeastern region, including Tripura.
In a letter to Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on the occasion of the state’s Statehood Day, the Prime Minister noted that for decades, people in the Northeast felt distant from the national mainstream.
He said his government has worked to bridge physical distances and strengthen emotional bonds with the region.
PM Modi said that over the past eight years, the double-engine governments at the Centre and in Tripura have worked with dedication to transform the state, in line with the mandates received in 2018 and 2023.
He highlighted significant improvements in Ease of Living through strengthened physical and social infrastructure.
He added that several Central schemes have delivered tangible benefits, with new components recently approved under Special Development Packages, expected to particularly benefit tribal communities.
The inauguration of the integrated terminal building at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala in 2022 has boosted connectivity, commerce, and tourism.
The Prime Minister said Tripura’s economy has grown significantly, supported by reforms in compliance reduction and deregulation to attract investment and create youth employment.
He praised the state’s farmers for environmental consciousness, noting Tripura’s leadership in implementing the PM-KUSUM scheme and promoting natural farming.
Focused support for weavers, mulberry growers, and pineapple farmers, he said, is strengthening livelihoods and ensuring long-term growth.
Recalling past challenges, PM Modi said the 2024 Peace Accord with the NLFT and ATTF has ushered in a new era of hope.
Referring to his September 2025 visit to the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, he expressed confidence that Tripura will continue to progress towards greater heights.
