PM Modi Reviews Bullet Train Work In Surat; Lauds Engineers For India’s MAHSR Milestone

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the under-construction bullet train station in Surat on Saturday to review the progress of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR).

The project, one of India’s most ambitious infrastructure ventures, aims to introduce the country’s first bullet train and transform long-distance travel between Gujarat and Maharashtra.

During the visit, PM Modi inspected key construction zones, observed ongoing technical work, and interacted with the on-ground team responsible for delivering the country’s maiden high-speed rail network.

PM Modi held an extensive interaction with engineering experts, project managers, and workers overseeing different segments of the corridor.

He asked the team for their honest assessment of the project’s pace and overall progress.

The workforce collectively expressed pride in working on India’s first bullet train and affirmed that construction was progressing rapidly.

A young woman engineer from Kerala, leading the robotics-based noise control wing, shared her experience with the Prime Minister.

Another woman worker expressed that being part of this historic project was a proud achievement for her and her family.

PM Modi Praises Workforce as ‘Pioneers’

The Prime Minister lauded the workers, describing them as the pioneers of India’s high-speed rail ecosystem.

He said their contribution would be remembered by future generations when bullet trains become a defining feature of the nation’s infrastructure.

Shruti, who heads the design and engineering control division, briefed PM Modi on the detailed planning and execution protocol followed by all departments.

She explained that each step involves meticulous presentations, consultations, and assessments before implementation.

In response, PM Modi suggested creating a ‘blue book’—a comprehensive document capturing innovations, challenges, and lessons learnt throughout the MAHSR project.

He said such documentation would serve as a valuable guide for future high-speed rail corridors in India.

Emotional Worker Expresses Team’s Sentiments

One of the workers summed up the team’s enthusiasm during the visit, saying, “Na naam chahiye, na inaam chahiye; bas desh aage badhe, yeh armaan chahiye. Modi ji, aapka har sapna saakar ho. Bullet train hamari pehchaan hai—yeh uplabdhi aapki bhi hai aur hamari bhi.”

He emphasised collective pride in contributing to a project that symbolises India’s progress.

The Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor spans approximately 508 km and will connect key cities, including Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, Boisar, Thane, and Mumbai.

Designed for seamless, high-speed travel, the project marks a transformative shift in India’s transportation landscape.

Once operational, the corridor will significantly reduce travel time, boost regional economic activity, and set new benchmarks for engineering capabilities in India.
