Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday released the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, transferring more than Rs 18,680 crore to over 9.34 crore farmer families across the country.
He released the funds during a national-level programme in Bhildi, Gujarat’s Banaskantha district.
The latest disbursement will benefit more than 52.33 lakh farmer families in Gujarat, who will receive over Rs 1,051 crore.
Gujarat Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani shared these figures while briefing the media after reviewing preparations for the event.
Vaghani said the Centre had transferred more than Rs 4.47 lakh crore to over 11 crore farmer families through the scheme’s first 23 instalments. In Gujarat, more than 69.26 lakh farmers had received over Rs 24,137 crore during this period.
The state organised 34 district-level programmes and more than 2,100 cluster-level events to mark PM Kisan Utsav Diwas.
Ministers, MPs, MLAs, agricultural scientists and senior officials participated in the celebrations. Beneficiaries were also scheduled to receive sanction letters under various agriculture and horticulture schemes.
The Bhildi programme coincided with the inauguration and foundation-laying of several projects in Banaskantha.
These included the Rs 328.77-crore Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre, two proposed compressed biogas plants at Tharad and Radhanpur, and an expanded potato processing plant at Banas Dairy.
PM Modi will continue his Gujarat visit in Ekta Nagar, where he will attend Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations on October 31, marking Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 151st birth anniversary.
The programme will include a parade, development project inaugurations and interactions with trainee civil servants.
PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi reflects the Government of India’s focus on strengthening farmer families through direct financial assistance.
With over 9.34 crore farmers and a commitment to Annadatas at its core, the scheme represents an important pillar of rural prosperity and a self-reliant India.
