PM Modi Reconnects With Educationist Gomatam Veeraraghavan Girija After 30 Years

Prime Minister Narendra Modi combined personal outreach with political campaigning during his April 15 visit to Nagercoil. He met veteran educationist and social worker Gomatam Veeraraghavan Girija after more than three decades, and later led a roadshow that drew significant public participation.

Sharing details on social media, PM Modi highlighted Girija’s long-standing contribution to education, social service, and the promotion of Indian culture. He noted the significance of reconnecting after many years and acknowledged her continued efforts in shaping young minds.

During the visit, the Prime Minister also interacted with a group of students, discussing their academic journeys, aspirations, and varied experiences.

Officials indicated that such engagements reflect his continued emphasis on youth involvement and education as central to national development.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi led a roadshow covering approximately 1.5 kilometres from Veppamoodu Junction to Vadasery. Large crowds gathered along the route, greeting him with party flags and flower petals as he acknowledged supporters from an open-top vehicle.

He was accompanied by key leaders of the AIADMK-BJP alliance, including Edappadi K Palaniswami and Nainar Nagenthran. Their joint appearance underscored alliance unity ahead of the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

The visit comes at a crucial phase in the campaign, with political parties intensifying outreach efforts through public events and targeted interactions.

Prime Minister Modi’s engagements in Nagercoil reflect the Bharatiya Janata Party’s strategy of combining grassroots connection with high-visibility campaigning in a closely contested electoral environment.
