PM Modi, New Zealand PM Luxon Visit Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib During Official Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon visited Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in the national capital, where they paid their respects.

PM Luxon arrived in India on Sunday for a five-day official visit, primarily to participate in the Raisina Dialogue 2025, India’s key conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics.

Earlier in the day, the two leaders convened at Hyderabad House for a bilateral meeting, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening ties and tackling global challenges.

During a joint press statement following their discussions, PM Modi underscored the shared concerns of both nations regarding terrorism.

The Prime Minister referenced past attacks in Christchurch (2019) and Mumbai (26/11), stressing that terrorism in any form is unacceptable.

Calling for decisive action against terror networks and separatist movements, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to countering extremism through bilateral and multilateral efforts.

The visit also marks a renewed push for stronger economic ties, with trade expansion and regional security high on the agenda.

Discussions have already led to the announcement of negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and New Zealand.

PM Modi warmly welcomed Luxon, describing him as a ‘youthful, dynamic, and energetic leader’ and expressing his happiness at having him as the Chief Guest at the Raisina Dialogue.

Addressing the conference in New Delhi, PM Luxon spoke on the deep-rooted ties between Indians and New Zealanders, noting their historical connection spanning over two centuries.

“It is more than 200 years since Indians and New Zealanders began living side by side. Just as they were 200 years ago, ‘Kiwi-Indians’ today are fully integrated into our multicultural society,” New Zealand Prime Minister asserted.
