PM Modi: NDA Pushing Chhath For UNESCO Tag; Slams RJD-Congress For Loot & Jungle Raj

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reaffirmed that developing Bihar remains a top priority for the NDA government and announced that efforts are underway to include Chhath Mahaparv in UNESCO’s World Heritage list.

Addressing a massive election rally in Muzaffarpur, PM Modi said the festival represents ‘devotion, equality, and social harmony’ and is the pride of Bihar and the nation.

“When India was prosperous and a global power in knowledge and science, Bihar played a vital role. To build a developed India, Bihar’s development is essential,” the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, accusing them of spreading false promises and practising politics of deceit.

“A pair of young men—princes of India’s most corrupt families—have opened a shop of lies,” PM Modi said, referring to the two leaders, adding that both are out on bail in multi-billion-dollar scams.

He also accused the RJD and Congress of promoting guns, cruelty, bitterness, misgovernance, and corruption.

“Those who kept Bihar in the lantern age cannot bring light. Those who looted the railways cannot improve connectivity. Where there is corruption, there can be no social justice,” he added.

Respect for Chhath and Cultural Heritage

Referring to alleged remarks by Opposition leaders about Chhath Mahaparv, PM Modi said they had insulted Chhathi Maiya, a goddess deeply revered in Bihar.

“For them, the worship of Chhathi Maiya is a farce. But for the women of Bihar who stand in rivers offering prayers to the Sun God, this is devotion in its purest form. No one will ever forget this insult,” he said.

Highlighting Bihar’s progress, PM Modi further said the state has witnessed a transformation under the NDA’s governance compared to the lawlessness of the RJD era.

He also highlighted that Bihar now manufactures railway engines, operates dairy plants, and exports makhana globally, asserting that the era of jungle raj has ended and the era of development has begun.

Moreover, recalling the 2001 Golu kidnapping-cum-murder case that shocked Muzaffarpur, he said, “Such incidents reflect the fear that once gripped Bihar. Around 40,000 kidnappings took place during RJD rule. That was the reality of jungle raj.”

Focus on Women’s Empowerment

PM Modi also praised Bihar’s women’s self-employment scheme, stating that the government deposited ₹10,000 each into the accounts of over 1.21 crore women to support small ventures.

“Whether it’s Narendra Modi or Nitish Kumar, empowering women has always been our priority. We have given pucca houses, tap water, free gas connections, and food grains to ease their lives,” he said.

Furthermore, PM Modi urged voters to reject the politics of deceit and support the NDA for a prosperous Bihar.

“The people of Bihar have seen the difference between jungle raj and good governance. Now, they must choose a future of growth, dignity, and stability,” he concluded.
