PM Modi Marks Makar Sankranti By Feeding Cows At Delhi Residence

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday marked the auspicious festival of Makar Sankranti by feeding cows at his residence in the national capital.

Photographs shared on the occasion showed the Prime Minister offering fodder to cows on the lawn, reflecting the festival’s spiritual values and India’s age-old tradition of reverence for nature and animals.

PM Modi has consistently highlighted the cultural and spiritual importance of Indian festivals, viewing them as symbols of harmony between humanity and nature.

Observing Makar Sankranti, he also underlined the message of positivity, renewal, and gratitude that the festival conveys as the Sun begins its northward journey.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered sacred Khichdi to Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath at the Gorakhnath Temple during Brahma Muhurta, following the long-standing traditions of the Nath sect.

On the occasion, he prayed for the welfare, happiness, and prosperity of the people.

After the ritual, the Chief Minister conveyed greetings to citizens, saints, and devotees, saying Makar Sankranti holds a special place in India’s ancient traditions.

Makar Sankranti is one of India’s most significant festivals, marking the Sun’s transition into Makara and the end of the winter solstice.

The festival also signifies the beginning of longer days and is regarded as an auspicious time for new beginnings and sacred activities.

Lakhs of devotees visited major pilgrimage centres across Uttar Pradesh, with large gatherings in Gorakhpur and holy dips at the Sangam in Prayagraj.

Celebrated nationwide as Pongal, Bihu, and Maghi, the festival signals the end of winter and the onset of longer days.
