PM Modi & Leaders Pays Tribute To Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru On 136th Birth Anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, as the nation observed his 136th birth anniversary on 14 November.

Taking to social media, Modi shared a brief message on X, stating, “Tributes to former Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji on the occasion of his birth anniversary.”

The tribute marked the government’s formal acknowledgement of Nehru’s significant role in shaping modern India.

Pandit Nehru, fondly known as Chacha Nehru, is celebrated for leading India through its formative years and for championing the creation of a democratic, secular, and progressive nation.

Moreover, his deep affection for children, evident in his writings and interactions, inspires the celebration of his birth anniversary as Children’s Day (Bal Diwas) across the country.

The day serves as a reminder of Nehru’s belief that children are the foundation of India’s future.

Political Leaders Pay Homage

Political leaders across parties also expressed admiration for Nehru’s contributions.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge paid tribute on X, describing Nehru’s legacy as “a timeless beacon, illuminating the idea of India and the values he cherished – Freedom, Democracy, Secularism and Scientific Temper.” Kharge’s message underscored Nehru’s determination to build a nation rooted in rational thought and inclusive governance.

The Congress party’s official handle echoed similar sentiments, referring to Nehru as the ‘visionary architect of modern India’.

The party emphasised that his ideals continue to guide the nation’s democratic and developmental trajectory.

Another post highlighted Nehru’s deep bond with children, recalling initiatives such as the Right to Education, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, which have strengthened educational access and equity.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also joined the nationwide tributes, expressing respect for Nehru’s contributions to India’s independence movement and nation-building efforts.

His message reaffirmed Nehru’s enduring influence on India’s democratic progress.

Nehru’s Enduring Influence

Born on 14 November 1889, Jawaharlal Nehru played a central role in India’s freedom struggle and later laid the foundations of a sovereign, secular, and democratic republic.

His vision for a modern India placed strong emphasis on scientific development, education, and the welfare of children.

Nehru also believed that nurturing young minds was essential to shaping a strong and vibrant nation.

As India commemorates his birth anniversary each year, Nehru’s ideals continue to inspire generations to uphold the values of democracy, secularism, and progress.

His legacy remains deeply embedded in the country’s social, political, and educational frameworks, serving as a guiding light for the nation’s future.
