On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several prominent ministers took to social media to wish Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on his birthday, highlighting his significant contributions to parliamentary proceedings and his unwavering commitment to upholding democratic values.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Om Birla’s leadership, emphasizing his dedication to ensuring the smooth functioning of Parliament.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Wishing Om Birla ji, who has made a distinguished identity as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha through his simple, smooth, and effective working style, a very happy birthday. Upholding democratic values and parliamentary dignity has always been his top priority. May God grant him good health and a long life.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his warm birthday wishes to the Speaker. He acknowleged Birla’s efforts in fostering a productive legislative environment.
Taking to X, Shah posted, “Heartfelt birthday wishes to Lok Sabha Speaker Shri @ombirlakota ji. Under your leadership, the House is witnessing a golden era of people-oriented schemes and policies. I pray to God for your good health and long life.”
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also shared his wishes, focusing on Om Birla’s efficiency in managing the parliamentary process.
Taking To X, Jaishankar posted, “Heartfelt birthday wishes to Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla ji. Your skilled leadership, effective management, and inspiring work style have enriched the House and the democratic process. I wish you a long life and excellent health.”
Om Birla, born on 23 November 1962, has been serving as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha since 19 June 2019, when he was elected for his first term.
He was re-elected for a second term in June 2024.
Om Birla, representing the Kota constituency in Rajasthan, has been a Member of Parliament since 2014 and has earned widespread respect for his role in strengthening parliamentary procedures and promoting democratic values.
