PM Modi Launches Nationwide HPV Vaccination Drive For Girls To Combat Cervical Cancer

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign for girls aged 14 years and above from Ajmer, marking a decisive intervention against cervical cancer.

The programme seeks to eliminate one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women in India. During the ceremony, healthcare workers vaccinated several schoolgirls in the Prime Minister’s presence.

PM Modi later interacted with the beneficiaries, underscoring the importance of awareness and early prevention.

The initiative aims to widen access to the HPV vaccine and shield millions of young girls from developing life-threatening diseases in later years.

Upon arrival at Kishangarh Airport, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the Governor, and senior officials formally received the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister travelled by Army helicopter to the Ghughra helipad and proceeded by road to the public event venue. Women’s health remained the central theme of the visit.

The government has positioned the HPV drive as a national movement focused on preventive healthcare and long-term public health security.

Officials regard the campaign as a landmark effort in strengthening India’s immunisation framework.

Alongside the health initiative, the Prime Minister advanced several infrastructure and development projects across Rajasthan. He inaugurated the four-lane Greenfield Jaipur-Bandikui Expressway, expected to ease travel towards Delhi.

PM Modi also inaugurated a six-lane access-controlled segment under Package 7 of the Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor to accelerate freight mobility and regional connectivity.

In Jodhpur, he laid the foundation stone for a four-lane elevated road designed to reduce urban congestion.

Reinforcing the ‘Water for Every Home’ commitment, he initiated nine packages under the Nonera and Parwan-Akawad drinking water projects to enhance water supply systems.

In the power sector, the Prime Minister inaugurated the transmission network for evacuating electricity from Rajasthan’s Renewable Energy Zone.

The Prime Minister also laid foundation stones for new 220 KV and 400 KV grid substations to strengthen distribution and expand renewable capacity.

Under the Rojgar Utsav initiative, he distributed appointment letters to over 21,800 newly selected candidates across Rajasthan government departments.

The visit combined healthcare reform, infrastructure expansion, renewable energy advancement, and employment generation, reflecting a comprehensive governance agenda.
