PM Modi Launches Gujarat Projects Worth Rs 14,000 Crore; Flags Off Two Train Services

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched and dedicated development projects worth more than Rs 14,000 crore in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district. He flagged off two train services as part of initiatives covering agriculture, animal husbandry, transport and infrastructure.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre (BBRC) in Bhildi and dedicated an expanded potato processing plant and an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) at Banas Dairy. He laid the foundation stones for two compressed biogas plants.

The government developed the 127-acre BBRC for Rs 328.77 crore. It will promote bovine breeding, genetic improvement and advanced reproductive technologies, with a special focus on the indigenous Kankrej breed.

The centre aims to accelerate breed improvement by 10-20 times, enhance milk productivity and improve cattle genetics.

Earlier, PM Modi visited its Embryo Transfer Technology-In Vitro Fertilisation laboratory and interacted with women dairy farmers.

The two proposed biogas plants at Tharad and Radhanpur will process 75 metric tonnes and 100 metric tonnes of cattle dung daily, respectively. The projects aim to convert dairy waste into cleaner fuel.

In the transport sector, PM Modi flagged off the Ahmedabad (Sabarmati)-Varanasi Express and Mehsana-Becharaji-Sabarmati MEMU service. He further laid the foundation stones for Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2A and 2B extensions.

The Prime Minister announced infrastructure initiatives worth Rs 2,600 crore to widen Ahmedabad-Mehsana Road from four to eight lanes. He further laid the foundation stone for 4,030 child-friendly Anganwadi centres and inaugurated 361 completed centres across Gujarat.

The Rs 800-crore initiative is expected to benefit more than four lakh people.

Additionally, PM Modi dedicated 521 projects worth around Rs 4,950 crore under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund. These include warehouses, cold storage facilities, processing centres and greenhouses.

PM Modi launched on-ground activities for 12 horticulture clusters covering 1.46 lakh hectares and benefiting over 1.3 lakh farmers.

Two clusters in North Gujarat will focus on potato cultivation.
