PM Modi Invites Indian Diaspora To Join ‘Bharat Ko Janiye’ Quiz

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended an invitation to the Indian community living abroad to participate in the fifth edition of the ‘Bharat Ko Janiye’ quiz, aimed at strengthening the bond between India and its global diaspora.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Strengthening the bond with our diaspora! Urge Indian community abroad and friends from other countries to take part in the #BharatKoJaniye Quiz. https://bkjquiz.com.”

“This quiz deepens the connect between India and its diaspora worldwide. It’s also a wonderful way to rediscover our rich heritage and vibrant culture. The winners will get an opportunity to experience the wonders of #IncredibleIndia,” he added.

PM Modi had earlier emphasized this initiative during his recent visit to Guyana, where he urged the Indian diaspora to take part in the quiz.

He highlighted that the quiz would help participants better understand India’s culture, values, and the roots that bind them to their homeland.

Quiz Details

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar launched the fifth edition of the ‘Bharat Ko Janiye’ quiz virtually on 11 November, and it is likely to run until 11 December.

The quiz is open to two categories:

  • Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and
  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)/Foreign Nationals aged between 14 to 50 years

Participants will answer 30 questions, with 30 seconds allotted for each question.

The top 30 scorers, 15 from each category, will be selected for a two-week ‘Bharat Ko Janiye Yatra’ (Know India Tour), which will include visits to various cultural and historical landmarks across India.

Additionally, winners will also participate in the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar, taking place from 8-10 January 2025.

Promoting India’s Heritage & Growth

The quiz, first launched in 2015 following an announcement by PM Modi at the 13th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations, aims to engage the Indian diaspora, especially the youth, by deepening their understanding of India’s history, culture, and contributions to the world.

This initiative is however part of the Indian government’s broader effort to strengthen ties with the global Indian community and to engage foreigners interested in learning more about India’s growth story and its place in the world.

The quiz has been held in previous years – 2015, 2018, 2020, and 2022 – and continues to be a popular and educational initiative that connects India with its global citizens.
