PM Modi Interacts With Viksit Vibrant Village Participants; Calls Border Villages India’s First Villages

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday interacted with participants of the ‘Viksit Vibrant Village’ programme, which saw the participation of over 400 youths from 250 districts across the country.

Implemented through MY Bharat, the programme aims to realise the Prime Minister’s vision of treating India’s border villages as the nation’s first villages and making them active partners in the journey towards ‘Viksit Bharat’.

Participant Experiences

During the interaction, law student Nikita from Dadra and Nagar Haveli described her visit to Changoo village in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district as a significant achievement. She said the villagers treated her like a member of their own family.

When PM Modi asked whether she had interacted with women panchayat heads, Nikita said she had met women Pradhans actively engaged in farming, administration and household responsibilities.

The Prime Minister suggested she reconnect with the villagers through a video call with her family, adding jokingly, “4G (network) must have reached there too.”

Highlighting the value of independent travel, PM Modi said, “You all went (to the villages) solo but while returning you all must have become a family.”

“You have undertaken the journey alone, which is a symbol of increasing self-esteem of India’s daughters. Our effort is to ensure that each of the youth and daughters of the country can march ahead with this same confidence,” he added.

PM Modi’s Message

Participant Sunil Kumar Kela from Rajasthan shared that despite the stark weather difference between Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh, he found the patriotism and warmth of villagers to be similar. He also praised the road infrastructure and the use of solar-powered electricity under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.

PM Modi said youth across border villages, whether in Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh or the Northeast, share the same spirit.

“Residents of such villages may geographically appear to be distant, but emotionally they are very much connected. It is with this thought that we made the border villages the country’s first village. Otherwise, as you all may have experienced, these villages were left behind after independence as the last village of the nation,” he said, adding, “Those who were last in priority earlier are now the first.”

Another participant, 21-year-old Sayontika from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, shared her experience of visiting Man Village in Ladakh, praising the ITBP personnel for their support and expressing surprise at the availability of UPI services in the remote border village.
