PM Modi Inaugurates Rs 5,470 Crore Rail And Road Projects In Jalandhar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 5,470 crore in Jalandhar, with a focus on strengthening rail and road infrastructure, improving passenger convenience and enhancing connectivity to key economic, spiritual and cultural centres.

Before the event, the Prime Minister met Dera Sachkhand head Sant Niranjan Dass, received his blessings and interacted with passengers onboard a train.

The Prime Minister inaugurated 75 redeveloped railway stations across 20 states, including Jalandhar Cantonment, under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

Developed at a cost of about Rs 1,570 crore, the stations have been upgraded into modern passenger-friendly facilities while incorporating local culture, heritage and architectural elements.

PM Modi also inaugurated the Daulatpur Chowk-Kartoli rail line, built at a cost of about Rs 830 crore as part of the Nangal Dam-Talwara-Mukerian New Rail Line Project.

The line strengthens rail connectivity between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, benefiting Hoshiarpur and Una districts, while improving access to religious destinations such as Shri Anandpur Sahib and Maa Chintpurni Temple.

The Prime Minister also flagged off the Kartoli-Ambala train service and the Amritsar (Chheharta)-Varanasi train service, providing a direct rail link between two major spiritual and cultural centres.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for National Highway projects worth over Rs 3,070 crore in Punjab. These include the inauguration of the 30.9-km Package-6 of the four-lane greenfield Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, aimed at reducing travel time, fuel consumption and vehicle operating costs.

PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for the 25.2-km six-lane greenfield Southern Ludhiana Bypass, which will likely improve connectivity and reduce travel distance between Ludhiana, Bathinda and other major economic centres.
