Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday virtually inaugurated the redeveloped Hi-Tech City Railway Station in Hyderabad from Jalandhar Railway Station as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which has modernised 75 railway stations across the country.
A separate function took place at the station in Hyderabad, where Member of Legislative Council AVN Reddy, South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, and other senior officials attended.
The station has been redeveloped at a cost of Rs 26 crore with a new station building and upgraded passenger amenities, including improved waiting halls, signage, lifts, escalators and facilities for Divyangjan. It also features a 12-metre Foot Over Bridge, an improved station façade and a new portico.
According to South Central Railway, the redeveloped station offers a spacious, technology-driven and commuter-centric environment designed to serve as a future-ready gateway to Hyderabad’s IT corridor.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme includes Hi-Tech City Railway Station among the 40 stations selected for redevelopment in Telangana.
The Railways have already inaugurated three redeveloped stations—Begumpet, Warangal and Karimnagar—and are progressing with work on the remaining stations as scheduled.
South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said Telangana has witnessed significant railway infrastructure development through record infrastructure expansion, rapid electrification and modernised passenger facilities.
Railway officials said the redevelopment reflects Indian Railways’ vision of creating world-class urban transport infrastructure by combining contemporary architecture, airport-like passenger spaces and commuter-focused planning to enhance the travel experience.
