Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated Kartavya Bhavan–03, a newly built government office complex located along Kartavya Path in New Delhi.
Following the inauguration, he toured an exhibition showcasing the building’s construction highlights, focusing on modern amenities and eco-friendly features integrated into the design.
Later in the day, PM Modi will likely address a public gathering at the same venue around 6:30 PM.
Kartavya Bhavan–03 is a major addition to the Central Vista redevelopment project.
As the first in a series of upcoming Common Central Secretariat buildings, the government aims to improve administrative efficiency by bringing various ministries under one roof and reducing the need for scattered offices across the capital.
The facility spans around 1.5 lakh square metres and consists of two basement levels and seven storeys (Ground + 6). It will accommodate key ministries and departments, including Home Affairs, External Affairs, Rural Development, MSME, DoPT, Petroleum and Natural Gas, and the Principal Scientific Adviser’s office.
Equipped with advanced infrastructure, the building offers secure, IT-enabled workspaces, ID-based access, electronic surveillance, and a centralised control system for governance operations.
Designed with sustainability in mind, Kartavya Bhavan–03 features a zero-discharge waste system, solid waste management units, EV charging points, and extensive use of recycled materials. It is to consume 30% less energy than conventional office complexes.
Additional green features include double-glazed windows for insulation and noise reduction, motion-sensitive LED lighting, energy-efficient elevators, and a central energy control system.
Rooftop solar panels are expected to produce more than 5.34 lakh units of electricity annually.
