PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited, asserting that the initiative would make financial assistance easily accessible for women associated with Jeevika.
While virtually addressing the event, PM Modi also transferred ₹105 crore to Jeevika Sisters, enabling them to strengthen their businesses and livelihoods.
“With this system, sisters associated with Jeevika will now receive funds more conveniently. This financial support will boost the work or business the Jeevika sisters are doing,” he said.
The Prime Minister emphasised that the Jeevika Nidhi system now operates in a completely digital mode, removing the need for women to make physical visits to access funds.
He underlined that women’s empowerment forms the foundation of a developed India.
“To empower women, we must reduce every difficulty in their lives. That is why our government has taken several steps to make the lives of mothers, sisters, and daughters easier,” he added.
PM Modi listed several initiatives designed to enhance women’s dignity, income, and independence:
“These schemes form a Mahayagya of serving mothers and sisters,” he said, adding that the NDA government in Bihar will intensify this campaign in the coming months.
PM Modi linked his address to Bihar’s traditions by recalling the upcoming Navratri and the unique Satbahini Puja.
Quoting a local saying, he remarked, “Maa ke sthan, Devta-Pitra se bhi hola (a mother’s place is higher than gods and ancestors).”
He stressed that Bihar’s tradition of reverence for women stands in sharp contrast to the opposition’s conduct.
“For our government, a mother’s dignity, respect, and self-respect remain a very big priority. Mother is our world, mother is our self-respect,” he said.
PM Modi also criticised the RJD-Congress alliance, accusing its leaders of abusing him and his late mother during public speeches in Bihar.
“Leaders of RJD-Congress abused my mother, who had nothing to do with politics and is no longer alive. I find this extremely painful — what was her fault?” he asked.
He alleged that Congress and its allies could not accept the rise of leaders from poor and backwards families.
