PM Modi Highlights Role Of Land Digitisation In Empowering Rural India

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the role of rural land digitisation in transforming agricultural practices and empowering rural communities. He highlighted how technology and good governance are driving significant change in India’s rural landscape.

In posts shared on his official social media handle, the Prime Minister underlined the importance of digital land records in improving transparency, accessibility, and ownership for rural citizens.

Sharing an informative post from MyGovIndia, the government’s citizen engagement platform, PM Modi remarked, “Furthering rural empowerment by leveraging the power of technology and good governance…”

The MyGovIndia post showcased the impact of rural land digitisation, noting how it has simplified land ownership, reduced disputes, and improved land management.

The post stated, “This transformative step brings transparency, accessibility, and empowerment to rural communities by helping to reduce land disputes and improve land management, making it easier for rural citizens to claim ownership and rights. See how this transformation is shaping the future of farming!”

The Prime Minister also drew attention to the government’s flagship SVAMITVA scheme, which has been instrumental in digitising land records across rural India.

Sharing another post from MyGovIndia, PM Modi referred to the scheme as a ‘game-changer’ for rural development.

The MyGovIndia post explained, “SVAMITVA Initiative: A Game-Changer for Rural India! The SVAMITVA (Survey of villages and mapping with improvised technology in village areas) initiative is transforming rural India. By providing accurate property ownership data, it’s bringing about positive change in everyday life. Villagers are now empowered with clear ownership, reducing disputes and enabling better opportunities.”

SVAMITVA Scheme

Launched in 2020, the SVAMITVA scheme aims to grant rural households legal ownership of their property through drone and GIS-based land mapping.

The initiative has significantly reduced land disputes and promoted financial inclusion by providing formal property titles to millions of rural residents.

On Saturday, PM Modi will distribute more than 65 lakh property cards under the SVAMITVA scheme, marking a significant step in empowering rural India.

The event, scheduled for 12:30 PM, will conducted via video conferencing. The Prime Minister will interact with beneficiaries and address the nation during the program.
