PM Modi Highlights e-Jagriti’s Role In Digitising Consumer Complaint Redressal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the e-Jagriti platform has addressed several long-standing challenges by bringing the complete consumer complaint process onto a single digital platform.

In a post on X, PM Modi shared an article by Union Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, who described the initiative as a key structural reform designed to strengthen consumer justice through technology.

Pralhad Joshi noted that the rapid expansion of e-commerce, digital payment systems and online marketplaces had exposed the limitations of the conventional consumer dispute resolution framework.

To overcome these shortcomings, the Department of Consumer Affairs introduced the e-Jagriti platform on 1 January 2025.

The AI-powered portal combines four existing systems—OCMS, e-Daakhil, the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) Case Management System and CONFONET—into a unified paperless platform.

Since becoming operational, e-Jagriti has enabled the registration of more than 2.29 lakh consumer complaints and facilitated the disposal of over 2.07 lakh cases.

The platform has recorded an overall disposal rate of 90.75 per cent while allowing consumers in India and overseas to access legal remedies through a digital interface.

The initiative has also made it easier for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) to seek consumer justice without travelling back to India.

Consumer commissions continued to improve their performance during the 2025–26 financial year by registering over 1.65 lakh cases and disposing of more than 1.52 lakh, resulting in a disposal rate of 92.3 per cent, higher than the previous year.

During the January-March quarter of FY 2025–26, consumer commissions resolved 34,600 cases against 38,944 new filings, achieving a disposal rate of 88.84 per cent.

The government said the platform has significantly improved the speed, transparency and efficiency of consumer grievance redressal through digital innovation.
