PM Modi Engages With PMAY-U Beneficiaries; Launches SUBHADRA Yojana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his three-state tour with a visit to Bhubaneswar, Odisha, where he engaged with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) in the Sabar Sahi slum area.

The visit was part of the PM’s final leg of the tour, marked by a grand reception upon his arrival at the Bhubaneswar airport.

On his official X account, PM Modi had earlier announced his visit to Odisha, highlighting the launch of the SUBHADRA Yojana, a significant social welfare initiative by the Odisha government aimed at empowering women and promoting financial independence.

The Prime Minister had stated, “Leaving for Bhubaneswar. It is very special to be among the wonderful people of Odisha to launch SUBHADRA, an important scheme of the Odisha Government. This scheme will boost women empowerment and ensure financial independence for our Nari Shakti.”

Upon landing in Bhubaneswar, PM Modi proceeded to the Sabar Sahi slum in the Gadakana area, traveling in a secure convoy.

Supporters, including many women, lined the route from the airport to Gadakana, greeting the Prime Minister and extending birthday wishes as he celebrated his 74th birthday.

In Sabar Sahi, people welcomed PM Modi with traditional Anga Bastra and sandalwood paste.

He visited the residence of a beneficiary where he enjoyed a serving of ‘kheer’, a traditional sweet delicacy, and participated in a Puja ceremony dedicated to Lord Jagannath.

PM Modi Spends 30 Minutes Discussing PMAY-U With Beneficiaries

During his visit, PM Modi spent approximately 30 minutes interacting with the PMAY-U beneficiaries, discussing their experiences with the housing scheme.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and the state’s Housing & Urban Development Minister, Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, were also present to support the event.

Following his interaction with the slum residents, the Prime Minister moved to Janata Maidan for a larger event where he officially launched the SUBHADRA Yojana.

This program is likely to provide financial support of Rs 50,000 to eligible women aged 21 to 60 over the next five years, as part of the BJP government’s commitment to women’s welfare.

Additionally, PM Modi laid the foundation stones for various infrastructure projects, including Railway projects worth Rs 2,871 crore and National Highway projects valued at over Rs 1,000 crore, further cementing the government’s development agenda for Odisha.
