‘PM Modi Embodies National Service’: Acharya Krishnam’s Praise Sparks Political Buzz

In a recent statement, Acharya Pramod Krishnam, the Peethādhiśhwar of Kalki Dham, expressed fulsome praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He declared that PM Modi is a leader who dedicates every fibre of his being to the nation.

“He has nothing for himself, nothing private – all that he is, belongs to this country,” the spiritual leader said, adding that this is why he regards PM Modi as the country’s hero.

At the same time, Acharya Krishnam turned his attention to the political sphere in Bihar, sharply criticising the Mahagathbandhan.

He asserted that the alliance of the Indian National Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal is now ‘only in name’.

He argued that the concept of a ‘friendly fight’ within the coalition has failed altogether – pointing out that where genuine competition exists, there is no friendship, and where friendship exists, there is no real fight.

According to Acharya Krishnam, this ‘friendly fight’ theory has produced the opposite of its intended effect.

He claimed that the Congress has gradually disappeared from state after state: “In Uttar Pradesh, Congress ended, in Bihar it ended, in Odisha it ended, and in Delhi hardly a trace remains.”

He charged that Rahul Gandhi’s ‘friendly fight’ model has undermined Congress across nearly every region of India.

Turning back to Bihar, Acharya Krishnam stated with certainty, “In reality, the alliance has broken up.”

He implied that the partnership of local parties no longer functions effectively, and the Mahagathbandhan has been reduced to a nominal union devoid of substance.

Context and Implications

The comments come amid shifting political alliances in Indian states, especially in the heartlands where regional and national parties form coalitions ahead of elections.

Acharya Krishnam’s remarks carry weight, not just because of his religious role at Kalki Dham, but also because of his former affiliation with the Congress party and public move away from it. (He was expelled from Congress for six years in early 2024 over alleged anti‐party statements.)

The sharp tone of his critique indicates deep frustration with how coalition politics has played out in recent years.

His praise for PM Modi also highlights an ongoing realignment of some spiritual‐political figures who increasingly align with the ruling government’s developmental and cultural agenda.

Given the Kalki Dham project—and PM Modi’s participation in its foundation stone ceremony—the linkage between faith, institution‑building and political narrative is clear.

Acharya Pramod Krishnam’s remarks highlight two clear trends: religious leaders are increasingly voicing political opinions, and insiders are openly questioning alliances once seen as pillars of regional power.

For the Congress and its partners, the criticism signals an urgent need to reassess their coalition strategies.

For the BJP, the endorsement underscores the value of forging ties with influential spiritual leadership figures in northern India.
