On India’s 79th Independence Day, PM Modi declared Aatmanirbhar Bharat the cornerstone of the country’s journey toward becoming a developed nation by 2047.
From the Red Fort, he hailed India’s progress in key sectors, calling self-reliance the bedrock of strength, dignity, and autonomy.
PM Modi hailed Operation Sindoor as proof of India’s growing defence self-reliance. He said Made-in-India weapons and indigenous capabilities enable the nation to act decisively and independently, ensuring national security without foreign dependence.
Celebrating Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla’s achievements, PM Modi announced plans to establish India’s own space station. He noted that over 300 startups are innovating in satellites, exploration, and advanced space technologies, positioning India as a leader in global space science.
PM Modi highlighted India’s early achievement of its 2030 target for 50% clean energy, reaching the milestone in 2025. He credited the people’s commitment to this success and outlined ongoing progress in solar, nuclear, hydro, and hydrogen energy.
Additionally, he said 10 nuclear reactors are operational, and India plans to expand capacity tenfold by 2047 with private sector support.
The Prime Minister launched the National Critical Minerals Mission to explore 1,200 sites for resources vital to energy, industry, and defence.
He said controlling these minerals strengthens India’s strategic autonomy and secures industrial and defence independence.

Calling fertiliser imports a risk to farmers’ welfare, PM Modi stressed the urgent need for domestic production. He said this would protect food security and ensure the agricultural sector thrives independently.
The Prime Minister urged youth to build India’s own social media and digital infrastructure to secure data and technology from external control.
Reaffirming India’s status as the ‘pharmacy of the world’, PM Modi called for greater investment in research and development. He urged the creation of new medicines, vaccines, and life-saving treatments domestically.
Drawing from the success of indigenous COVID-19 vaccines and CoWin, he urged the nation to expand its innovation drive.
PM Modi encouraged citizens and shopkeepers to promote India-made products under the Vocal for Local initiative. He emphasised that swadeshi should be embraced from pride and strength, not compulsion.
PM Modi launched Mission Sudarshan Chakra to counter infiltrations and boost offensive power, linking it to India’s cultural heritage. He said the mission reflects India’s readiness to deliver rapid, precise, and decisive responses to threats.
