PM Modi Congratulates Barbados PM Mia Amor Mottley On Historic Third Election Victory

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt congratulations to Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley following her third successive general election victory.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Warm congratulations to Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley on her historic third consecutive electoral victory. India deeply values its long-standing friendship with Barbados, which continues to expand across diverse areas of cooperation.”

“I warmly recall our meeting on the sidelines of the India-CARICOM Summit in 2024 and look forward to working closely with her to further strengthen our partnership for the benefit of our peoples,” the post further read.

The Barbados Labour Party captured all 30 seats in the House of Assembly, delivering a third consecutive clean sweep under Mottley’s leadership and reinforcing her political standing.

To commemorate the sweeping victory, Mottley proclaimed, “Friday will be a national bank holiday in Barbados.”

“All roads on Saturday afternoon, 4 pm at the National Botanical Gardens. Saturday is not only the day of love. Saturday is the day of red, red, red,” she noted.

India and Barbados maintain cordial relations, bolstered by shared Commonwealth membership, the English language and a common enthusiasm for cricket.

Their cooperation encompasses healthcare, pharmaceuticals, climate initiatives, cultural exchanges and strong people-to-people connections.

The two nations collaborate closely in international forums such as the United Nations, the Commonwealth and the Non-Aligned Movement. Barbados has also reiterated its backing for India’s aspiration to secure permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council.

PM Modi’s message reflects the sustained momentum in India–Barbados relations and a mutual resolve to enhance engagement at both bilateral and multilateral levels.
